Summary:
Students that take AP Chemistry are required to learn more content material, in a shorter amount of time than many college/university students in their first two semesters of general chemistry. This places many high school students that lack a strong foundation in problem-solving skills and essential content-specific concepts at a distinct disadvantage. This talk will discuss the necessary essential skills and the pros and cons of various sequencing of the chemistry topics covered in regular high school chemistry, along with strategies that help students master the skills and chemical concepts for long term retention.
